About the project

To suit the family's preferences, the rooms were made more family-friendly, with window coverings, and custom furniture pieces. For the semi-retired parents and their two adult children, an open floor plan was ideal for enjoying their country surroundings. Color and layout were used to connect the main floor and maintain an open, flowing plan. The round glass pedestal dining table takes center stage.

Project execution

When our clients first approached us regarding their new home purchase, it was clear that the project required our Turnkey Design Service. Having only two pieces of luggage each, the retired teacher and her tech-savvy husband moved to the area hoping to build a legacy for their family. They wanted to fully furnish their new home so future generations could share in the experience. The goal was to design a space that would be timeless, family-focused and flawless for entertaining friends and making memories with loved ones. This home needed to be strong enough to withstand the test of time.

The client specified that everything had to be "red wine-proof," meaning all the finishes and soft furnishings had to be durable and long-lasting.

From the beginning, we wanted to stay true to the original character of this traditional yet modern home, respecting its beautiful natural surroundings. To start, we removed all of the builder-grade lighting.

These additions were aimed at elevating the modern notes, tying in the palette of colors and textures to complement the natural setting of the project. Oversized windows highlight the serene surrounding landscape and bring in natural light.

We addressed the bulletproof objective by specifying performance-grade upholstery fabric and indoor/outdoor-rated leathers and rugs. For highly trafficked areas like the kitchen drawers, hardware & kicks work, we included sturdier metal details and upgraded lighting. This ensures that daily wear from living will not damage the home and makes it a more functional space without worrying about spills or scratches.

It has been an honor to be part of making this beautiful home that will be treasured for many years. We are excited to hear about all of the special moments and memories that this family will make in the next 20 years and beyond. Take a look!
